Read Matthew 15:23
For those who are sincerely seeking God yet have not received the blessing they long for, this story brings great comfort. The Canaanite woman came to Jesus with faith, desperation, and persistence—but at first, He was silent. “He answered her not a word.”
Was her prayer weak? No—it was heartfelt and strong.
Was her need small? Not at all—it was deep and painful.
Did she lack faith? Quite the opposite—Jesus Himself said, “O woman, great is your faith.”
Yet even with all this, Jesus waited before answering. Why? Because sometimes, faith must be tested before it is rewarded. God’s silence does not mean rejection—it is often a divine pause meant to deepen our trust.
Faith may begin like a seed hidden beneath the soil—alive, but unseen. It takes time for roots to grow before fruit appears. In the same way, joy and peace may not come immediately after prayer. Sometimes, instead of comfort, we first experience conviction, waiting, or even what feels like heaven’s silence.
If you find yourself waiting—pray on. Even if God seems to ignore your cry, keep believing in His heart when you cannot hear His voice. His silence is never absence. The same Jesus who seemed silent to the woman finally spoke—and granted her heart’s desire.
So, even if you feel bruised by delay or wounded by silence, trust Him still. For in the end, every waiting soul that clings to Christ will hear His gracious voice and receive His mercy.
“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” – Job 13:15
Reflection for Today
When God seems silent, do I still believe that His heart is full of love for me?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, sometimes Your silence feels heavy, and my heart grows weary while waiting. Yet I know You are near, even when I cannot feel You. Strengthen my faith to trust Your timing and Your goodness. Teach me to wait with hope, to pray with persistence, and to rest in Your love. Speak peace to my heart when I am discouraged, and help me to trust You even in the quiet. Amen.
