Read Psalm 84:6
The “Valley of Baca” is often called the valley of weeping. Yet Scripture tells us that God’s people, while passing through it, turn it into a place of refreshment. How? By faith, by hope, and by the comfort of God’s Word.
The encouragements we receive in hard times are rarely just for us. Like a well dug in a desert, they often serve the pilgrims who come after us. Books, hymns, sermons, and prayers written in tears have comforted generations of believers. The Psalms themselves are filled with such wells—voices from long ago still refreshing weary travelers today.
But notice this: the wells are dug by human hands, yet they are filled by God. We may seek Him in prayer, in Scripture, or in worship, but it is heaven that pours down the rain. Without God’s blessing, even our best efforts are dry. With His grace, even our weakest digging becomes a pool of living water.
Grace is like the rain—pure, refreshing, life-giving, and sovereignly given. And when God sends it, valleys of sorrow become places of strength. What once was barren now overflows with life.
So let us keep digging in faith—praying, worshiping, and clinging to His Word—while depending fully on Him to fill our wells with living water.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that even in the valley of tears, You provide wells of refreshment. Help me to dig deep in prayer, worship, and Your Word, trusting You to fill my heart with Your grace. May the comfort You give me also become a blessing to others who walk the same path. Send showers of blessing, Lord, and turn my valleys into springs of life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
