Read Philippians 3:8
There is no treasure on earth that compares to knowing Christ personally. The apostle Paul, who once had fame, learning, and honor, declared that everything he once valued was worthless compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus.
True knowledge of Christ is not secondhand—it must be personal. We cannot know Him merely through another’s testimony; we must encounter Him ourselves. This knowledge is not vague or mystical but grounded in truth. We must know who Jesus is—both God and man—understand His saving work, His compassion, His power, and His glory.
To truly know Christ is to love Him. Knowledge that does not warm the heart is incomplete. Head knowledge alone cannot satisfy; only heart knowledge brings joy and transformation. When we know Christ deeply, we find our souls content, for He becomes our Bread of Life and our Living Water.
Yet this knowledge also stirs holy desire—the more we know of Him, the more we long to know. Each glimpse of His beauty draws us higher, until one day we see Him face to face. In knowing Him, we find strength in trials, peace in suffering, and joy that lifts us above every sorrow.
Let us, then, sit at His feet daily—learning, loving, and growing in the knowledge of our precious Lord.
Reflection for Today
Is knowing Christ the highest pursuit of my life? What am I still counting as “gain” that keeps me from knowing Him more fully?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are my greatest treasure. Teach me to know You more deeply—to understand Your heart, Your truth, and Your ways. Let every pursuit fade in comparison to the joy of knowing You. Fill me with Your presence until I am satisfied in You alone.
In Your holy name, Amen.
