Read Deuteronomy 1:38
Before Joshua could lead Israel into the Promised Land, God gave Moses a clear assignment: “Encourage him.” God didn’t send an angel to strengthen Joshua. Instead, He used Moses—a man who had walked the same road, faced the same battles, and known the same hardships.
That’s how God often works. Instead of angels, He sends people. He sends us. Why? Because nothing replaces the encouragement of a fellow traveler who knows the weight of the journey. Moses had seen the fiery serpents, the rebellion of the people, and the long wilderness path. His words of encouragement to Joshua carried the depth of shared experience.
The same is true for us. A kind word spoken at the right time, a prayer lifted for someone weary, or a reminder of God’s faithfulness can breathe courage into another believer’s soul. God has called us not just to walk with Him, but also to walk with one another.
Encouragement is not just a suggestion—it is a ministry. When we fan the small flame of faith in someone’s heart, God can turn it into a fire. When we remind a weary friend of God’s promises, we help them stand strong. When we speak life to the discouraged, we reflect Christ, who continually encourages His people with His presence and His Word.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my life who have encouraged me along the way. Help me to be that voice of strength and hope to others. Give me eyes to see who needs encouragement today and words that point them back to Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
