The Love That Won’t Let Go

True believers love Jesus more deeply than anyone or anything else. They would rather lose their closest family than lose Him. They may hold earthly comforts loosely, but they hold Christ close to their hearts. They will gladly give up personal gain for His sake, but they will never give Him up—no matter what.

Persecution can’t dry up this love. No amount of riches, honor, threats, or suffering can break the bond between Christ and His people. Neither human schemes nor Satan’s tricks have ever succeeded in separating the believer from their Lord. This love is unshakable because it’s forged by God Himself.

Yet, the believer’s greatest sorrow is that they cannot love Him enough. Their hearts long to love Jesus more than they do now. Like the old preacher Samuel Rutherford once said, “Oh, for enough love to cover the earth and heaven—and ten thousand more worlds—for Christ alone!” Our love may feel small compared to His worth, but He knows our hearts and measures our love by our desire to love Him more.

A true Christian’s love for Jesus may not be perfect, but it’s unbreakable—and it always longs to grow.
