Read Romans 8:30
When God calls a person, it is not an ordinary call—it is a holy calling, a high calling, and a heavenly calling.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace” (2 Timothy 1:9). This divine call leads us away from self-trust and pride, and directs us entirely toward Christ. It is a call that transforms our hearts, teaching us to hate sin and to long for holiness.
If you are truly called by God, sin will grieve you deeply. You will find yourself praying, “Lord, help me to be holy.” Your heart will no longer be satisfied with worldly pleasures or shallow religion. Instead, there will be a burning desire within you to walk closely with God and to reflect His purity in your thoughts, words, and actions.
This calling is also a high calling. It lifts our hearts above earthly ambitions and sets our minds on eternal things. It teaches us to live for what truly matters—to glorify God and seek His kingdom first.
Finally, it is a heavenly calling—a call that comes from heaven and leads us toward heaven. Those who are truly called by God see themselves as pilgrims and strangers on earth, walking toward a city with eternal foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
So, ask yourself: Is my life marked by this holy, high, and heavenly calling? Do I live as one set apart for Christ, longing more for heaven than for the world?
“As He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.” – 1 Peter 1:15
Reflection for Today
Do I live with heaven in my heart and holiness in my walk? Does my life reflect the upward call of God in Christ Jesus?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me by Your grace and setting me apart for Your purpose. Teach me to walk worthy of this high and holy calling. Purify my heart from sin, lift my eyes toward heaven, and let my life bring glory to Your name. Keep me faithful until the day I see You face to face.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
