The Day of His Coming

The first coming of Jesus was humble—a baby born in a manger, wrapped in simple cloths. Yet even then, His presence stirred hearts and exposed the truth of every soul. Herod trembled, Jerusalem was troubled, and many who claimed to wait for the Messiah rejected Him when He appeared. His purity and truth tested every heart, revealing who truly belonged to God.

If His first coming was so searching, what will His second coming be like? When He returns, it will not be in quiet humility but in glorious power and righteous judgment. The same Jesus who once said, “I am He,” and caused soldiers to fall backward, will return as the conquering King. Every heart will stand before Him—some with terror, others with joyful expectation.

For those who have rejected His grace, that day will bring wrath and regret. But for those who have been washed in His blood, it will be a day of joy and vindication. Christ is even now refining His people—purifying our faith, burning away sin, and shaping us to reflect His holiness.

Let us, then, live with hearts ready for His return. Let us lay aside every false appearance and love of sin, and walk in sincerity and truth. The King is coming—not to condemn His own, but to reward those who have remained faithful.

Reflection for Today
Am I ready for the Lord’s return? Is there anything in my life I would be ashamed of if Jesus came today?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, search my heart and cleanse me from all that is untrue. Help me to live in holiness, sincerity, and love, so that when You appear, I may stand before You without fear. Refine me like gold, and let me be found faithful on the day of Your coming.
Amen.
