Read Acts 16:14
Lydia’s story reminds us that God’s timing is perfect. Though she was a businesswoman in Thyatira, providence led her to Philippi at just the right moment to hear Paul. God’s grace was quietly preparing her heart even before she knew Him. She already understood some spiritual truths, and God used them as stepping stones to reveal Himself fully.
Notice carefully: it was the Lord who opened her heart. Not Lydia herself, not Paul, and not even her own prayers—it was God alone. He alone has the key to our hearts and can make us receptive to His truth. And when He opens a heart, it shows in obedience and love. Lydia immediately responded in faith by being baptized, and her love for others was expressed through her generous hospitality. True conversion always bears the fruit of willing obedience and caring action toward God’s people.
Reflection for Today:Have I allowed God to open my heart fully, so that His Word might take root and grow in me?
Prayer:Lord, open my heart to receive Your Word. Teach me to obey gladly and love sincerely, so that my life may reflect Your grace and mercy. May my heart remain ever open to You and Your leading. Amen.
