Seeing God Through Agate Windows

The church is pictured as a spiritual house built by God’s power and designed with His wisdom. Like any house, it needs windows—openings through which light enters and we can see outside. In the church, these “windows” are the ways we perceive God, spiritual truth, and heavenly realities. They are precious, yet not perfectly clear, like agate stones—beautiful, but semi-transparent.

Faith is one of these agate windows. It allows us to glimpse God and His promises, though sometimes dimly. Experience, too, serves as a window: through our struggles and trials, we understand the sufferings of Christ in a gentle, tempered light. Sanctification—being transformed to be more like Jesus—opens another window. As we grow in holiness, we begin to see God’s glory more clearly, though still through the soft lens of our human limitations.

Even imperfect as they are, these windows let the light of Christ shine into our hearts. They remind us to be thankful for what we see and to long for the day when we shall behold God face to face.

Prayer:Lord, thank You for the precious windows of faith, experience, and sanctification through which I may see You. Purify my heart and open my eyes to behold more of Your glory each day. Help me to walk faithfully in Your light, even when my vision is dim, and prepare me for the day when I shall see You clearly, face to face. Amen.
