Finding True Rest in God

Peace and rest are gifts that belong especially to God’s people. The unregenerate may seek comfort in the world, but true, lasting peace comes only from God. From the garden of Eden to the safety of Noah’s ark, from the blood-marked homes of Israel in Egypt to the guidance of the pillar of cloud in the wilderness, God has always provided His people a secure resting place. Today, that resting place is found in Jesus—the ark of our salvation, our refuge, and our peace.

When we draw near to Him—through prayer, Scripture, worship, or the Lord’s Supper—we enter His quiet resting place. Here our souls are calmed, our hearts reassured, and we experience the peace that surpasses understanding. No storm, no trial, and no enemy can disturb the stability of this peace, for it is grounded in the promises and faithfulness of our God.

Reflection for Today:Am I seeking rest in the world, or am I dwelling in the quiet peace found only in Christ?

Prayer:Lord Jesus, thank You for being my resting place. Teach me to come to You daily, to trust Your promises, and to find my peace in Your presence alone. Guard my heart from anxiety and help me dwell securely in the quiet joy of Your salvation. Amen.
