Read 1 Samuel 27:1
David spoke these words during a moment of deep fear. Even though God had protected him countless times— from lions, from Goliath, and from Saul’s repeated attempts to kill him—his heart still wavered. He forgot God’s past deliverance and believed a lie: “I will perish.”
We often do the same. When problems overwhelm us, we forget yesterday’s mercies and doubt God’s faithfulness. Yet God has never failed us. Every storm we survived, every battle we overcame, is proof that He has always been with us.
Faith looks back and says, “God has been faithful before; He will be faithful again.”
Fear blinds us to this truth and makes us forget how far God has carried us. Like David, we sometimes speak out of fear and lose sight of God’s unchanging promises.
So when fear whispers, “You won’t make it,” let faith reply, “The Lord who kept me yesterday will keep me today and forever.” God’s care is not temporary. His love is steadfast. His protection is sure. The God who delivered you in the past will not forsake you now.
Reflection for Today
Am I allowing fear to erase the story of God’s faithfulness in my life?
Prayer
Faithful Father, forgive me when fear clouds my heart and causes me to doubt Your goodness. Remind me of every moment You carried me through. Strengthen my faith to trust Your promises, knowing that the God who was faithful before will be faithful still. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
