Read Numbers 12:1
Moses’ choice of an Ethiopian wife seemed strange to those around him—but how much more amazing is the love of Jesus for His bride, the Church! The sinless, pure Son of God chose to unite Himself with us—broken, stained, and unworthy. What grace, what wonder, that Christ would set His affection on those who could offer Him nothing in return but love awakened by mercy.
Like the dark-skinned bride in the Song of Solomon who said, “I am black, but beautiful,” we too must confess that our sin has marred us deeply, yet grace has made us lovely in His sight. His love is not based on our beauty but on His own heart of compassion. Even now, though we falter, He continues to heal, restore, and beautify us through His faithful love.
If the world mocks our relationship with Christ, we need not be surprised—it once mocked His. But He still calls us His beloved, and one day He will present us to Himself in radiant splendor, “without spot or wrinkle.”
Reflection for Today
Am I still amazed that Jesus loves me—not because of who I am, but because of who He is?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, how wonderful is Your love! You saw me in my sin and chose me still. Thank You for taking me as I am and making me Your own. Keep shaping me to reflect Your beauty, and let my life be a testimony of Your grace. When the world mocks or misunderstands, remind me that I am loved by You—and that is enough.
Amen.
