Called Up the Mountain

Jesus is the one who chooses and calls. Sometimes we may feel restless or even disappointed that we are not placed in “higher” or more visible roles in ministry. But the truth is, the greatest joy is not the size of the task—it is being called by Jesus at all. Even if He only makes us “doorkeepers” in His house, it is still a privilege beyond measure.

The call to serve does not come from men, but from above. Jesus stood on the mountain, set apart in holiness, love, and power. And those He called had to climb up to Him. In the same way, if we are to serve Him, we must learn to rise above the noise of the world and live in daily fellowship with Him.

We may not reach worldly honors or academic heights, but like Moses, we must go up the mountain of God—seeking His presence, listening to His voice, and learning His heart. Without this, we will not be equipped to share His peace with others.

The disciples returned from the mountain clothed with power because they had first been with Jesus. And the same is true for us. Before we face people today, we need to first face Jesus. Time with Him is never wasted—it strengthens, equips, and fills us with His Spirit so that we can live out His mission.

Don’t rush into the day’s battles with empty hands. First, go to the mountain. First, meet with Jesus. Only then will you carry His power, His peace, and His presence into the world.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me to be Yours. Teach me to come up the mountain with You every day, to leave behind distractions and rest in Your presence. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may serve with strength, humility, and joy. Help me not to measure my worth by the size of my task, but by the greatness of being called by You. May I go into this day empowered, because I have first been with You.

In Your name I pray, Amen.
