Read Hosea 14:8
Every bit of fruit in a Christian’s life comes directly from God.
First, it comes through union with Christ. Just as a branch can only bear grapes when it is connected to the vine, so we can only bear spiritual fruit when we remain in Christ. Every good work we do was first in Him and flows into us by His life-giving Spirit. Without Him, we would be barren branches.
Second, our fruit comes through God’s provision. Just as rain, sunshine, and dew nourish the vine, so God provides us with grace, strength, encouragement, and teaching. Everything we need to grow and be fruitful is supplied by Him.
Third, our fruit comes through God’s wise pruning. A gardener uses the knife to cut off excess branches so the tree will produce more. In the same way, God lovingly removes what hinders us—sometimes through trials or discipline—so that we may grow stronger and bear lasting fruit.
Since every spiritual grace comes from Him, all the glory belongs to God alone.
Prayer
Father, thank You that every fruit in my life comes from You. Keep me close to Christ, provide all I need by Your Spirit, and prune me in love so that I may grow in holiness and usefulness. May my life bring glory to You alone.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
