Read Jeremiah 49:23
Right now, we may be safe in our homes, but out on the sea, storms may be raging. Ships may be tossed, sailors may be fighting for their lives, and families on land may anxiously wait for their return. The sea has claimed many lives and left behind widows, orphans, and broken households. Truly, there is sorrow on the sea.
The sea itself seems to echo this truth. Its waves are never still, always crashing, fretting, roaring, and pounding against the shore. To some, its sound is beautiful—but to those in sorrow, it only reminds them of restlessness and loss. In the same way, this world offers no lasting rest; it is full of storms, trials, and grief.
But for the believer, there is hope. Scripture promises a place where there will be “no more sea” (Revelation 21:1)—no more storms, danger, or restless sorrow. Until then, we look to the One who once walked on the waves and calmed the storm. He is with us in every trial, and He will one day bring us to that eternal, peaceful shore.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, when life feels like a restless sea, help me to cast all my sorrows on You. Thank You for being my peace in the storm and my hope of a safe and eternal haven. Strengthen me to trust You in every wave, until the day You lead me to that place where sorrow and storms will be no more. Amen.
