Read Psalm 29:2
God deserves all the glory because of who He is and what He has done. His very nature is full of holiness, goodness, and beauty—He is glorious by His character alone. And when He acts—whether showing mercy, justice, or power—His works shine with glory too. But that glory belongs only to Him, never to us.
The truth is, we have nothing to boast about. Everything we are and everything we have comes from God’s grace. The moment we begin to glorify ourselves, we step into dangerous ground—trying to steal honor that belongs only to God. Just as a tiny insect cannot compete with the sun, or a drop of water cannot stand against a storm, we cannot rival the glory of our Creator.
That’s why Scripture calls us to give God the glory due His name. It’s not easy, because pride always tries to sneak in. God often reminds us—sometimes painfully—that it is “not to us, but to Your name be the glory.” Whenever we succeed or accomplish something good, it is only by His grace working in us. So let us humbly lay our crowns at His feet and declare, “Not I, but Christ in me.”
Prayer
Lord, You alone are worthy of all glory and honor. Forgive me when I try to take credit for what only Your grace has done in my life. Teach me to walk humbly before You, always pointing others to Your greatness. May everything I do bring honor to Your name, not mine. Help me to remember daily: Not unto us, but unto You be the glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
