Read Ruth 2:2
Are you feeling down, discouraged, or worn out? Then come and gather hope today from the wide field of God’s promises—just like Ruth did when she asked to glean leftover grain in the field.
God’s Word is full of promises that speak directly to your situation. Here’s one to start with:
“He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle.”
(Matthew 12:20, NLT)
Maybe you feel like that weak reed—bent, broken, and unable to stand on your own. Or like a flickering flame—barely burning. But Jesus won’t crush you or blow you out. Instead, He gently lifts you, strengthens you, and breathes new life into your soul.
Here’s another promise for you to gather:
“Come to Me, all of you who are tired and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
(Matthew 11:28)
Jesus knows your heart is hurting, so He speaks kindly and tenderly. Will you come to Him today?
Take another promise:
“Do not be afraid, little worm Jacob; I will help you,” says the Lord, “your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
(Isaiah 41:14, paraphrased)
Even if you feel small and powerless, God is on your side. With Him helping you, what is there to fear?
There are so many more promises waiting to be picked up like grain in the field:
“I have wiped away your sins like a cloud.” (Isaiah 44:22)
“Even though your sins are red like scarlet, they will be white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)
“Come! Anyone who is thirsty may come and drink the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17)
Jesus’ field of grace is overflowing. Reach down and gather these truths. They’re yours. He left them for you.
So don’t be afraid—believe. Take hold of these promises, reflect on them, and let your soul be nourished. Today is the perfect day to glean from God’s abundant field of mercy and love.
